“Strength: what lies behind us and what lies before us are tiny matters compared to what lies within us.”

Therapeutic Models
My training is varied which allows me to provide an integrated approach that is centred around your child’s individual needs. Strengths-based principals are at the core of what I do and I am solidly grounded in trauma, attachment, neurodevelopment and family systems theories. I have specifically focussed on developing my skills in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Trauma Focussed Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (TF-CBT), and Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR).
Cognitive Behavioural
Therapy (CBT)
Cognitive behavioural therapy is a time-limited, goal oriented approach to treatment that encourages people to examine the interplay between their thoughts, feelings, behaviours, and body sensations. Once people are able to identify these, they can explore alternative thoughts and behaviours, ultimately shifting feelings and body sensations to relieve the difficulties they are experiencing.
Trauma Focussed Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (TF-CBT)
TF-CBT is a conjoint parent/child therapy that utilizes the principals of CBT and exposure therapy to help people heal from trauma, traumatic grief, depression, and behavioural difficulties.
Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR).
EMDR is a 3-pronged approach focussing on the past, present, and future to help the brain process unprocessed traumatic memories and neutralize the emotional charge associated with these experiences. This is done through bilateral stimulation of the brain via sight, sound, or touch (i.e buzzers in hands). Once these memories have been fully processed, the nervous system no longer believes it is still in danger and individuals are freed up to make cognitive shifts.
